Connecting the OLFA 35" x 70" Connecting Grid Rotary Cutting Mat Set is straightforward once you get the hang of it. The mat is actually made of three separate segments, and you'll use the included mat clips to join them together.
Our research suggests that you might encounter some hiccups with the seams where these segments connect. Some folks have found that their rotary blade can catch at these junctions, or that the cuts might not be completely smooth. A nifty trick we've come across is using painter's tape on the seams to help keep everything aligned more neatly.
There's also a minor thing to keep in mind: a few people have noticed that the mat has a bit of an odor initially. It's not something everyone detects or is bothered by, but if you're working in a smaller space, it might be something to be aware of.
Despite these quirks, many people appreciate the mat's size, which is great for large sewing or quilting projects. It lets you cut bigger pieces of fabric without needing to constantly reposition, saving you time.
So, if you need a large cutting surface and don't mind a bit of extra effort getting everything connected just right, this mat can be a solid part of your crafting toolbox.
Just keep in mind the space you have and think about how you'll handle any seam issues.
